Personal Statement
A contemporary artist recently completed a BA (Hons) Fine Art Degree at the University of Plymouth, as a ‘vintage immature’ student. My creative practice has evolved from many years of drawing and painting to now include sculpture.
I strongly believe that the creative arts help to improve health, wellbeing and quality of life. I know, that those who have art in our souls and have used art as a therapeutic healing tool throughout our lives understand its value at the deepest level.
The foundation of my sculptural installation practice is exploring the philosophy of ‘repetition’ and ‘Eternal Recurrence’ based on the theories of Friedrich Nietzsche and Giles Deleuze. The main emphasis within my artwork is conveying the acts of repetition as time, intertwining past with present and the future. In context with both my practical and theoretical methodologies, the peripheral element within each artwork is to articulate and communicate aspects of biomedical science, with the aim to make visual medical conditions and the impact sufferers experience, with the underpinning idea to raise awareness.

Creative Arts and Health Facilitation. Coaching, Specialist Mentoring and Teaching.
A Community Social Enterprise project for adults managing mental health disabilities, by using creativity as a therapeutic tool to aid their recovery, maintain wellness and improve their quality of life.
The weekly program includes a wide range of creative arts including painting, drawing, textiles, crafts and mixed mediums.
2014-Present
HMS Drake, Plymouth
Hasler Company, Naval Service Recovery Centre, & The Navel Personnel Support Group.
Established and run a weekly art workshop in HMS Drake for seriously Wounded, Injured & Sick Serving Personnel and Veterans in Hasler Company, Help4Heroes and the Navel Personal Support Group. The workshop is part of a Holistic Activities Program as a bespoke recovery and rehabilitation pathway for those suffering from serious physical injuries, terminal illnesses, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other mental health conditions.
